Please accept my best wishes for the “Thursday’s Child” multi – faith event at the West Ham Memorial Recreation Grounds on 7-8 July. I am pleased to send the following message of support for use in your event publicity:

“I would like to send my best wishes to all taking part in the Thursday’s Child event. Londoners are proud to live in a city that welcomes and celebrates its diversity, where people of all faiths or none are free to live the lives they choose while respecting the rights of others to do the same. Therefore, I am pleased to offer my support for the aims of Thursday’s Child to encourage greater knowledge and understanding of all our diverse faiths. I wish the event every success”.

Dear Vivienne

Further to our conversation I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge your visionary concept and wish you success with your endeavours of “a Celebration of Faith”.

Interfaith dialogue and action is truly critical at this difficult time and the thought of each and every faith under one roof enabling the public at large to understand one another more fully has to be encouraged and supported.

We will be pleased as members of the Sikh community to be involved with your festival.

Regards

Dear Vivienne

It was lovely to hear from you.

It is good to see that your event planned for 7th and 8th of July in West Ham Park is developing so well.

We have always felt that this would be a great opportunity to get people of different faiths to participate together in an event to explain the benefits, origins and principles of their faith in an informal way to the public and also to get closer to each other.

We really see the benefit of such an event and are very happy to support you. Our specialities are in the field of meditation and workshop/talks.

On behalf of the Brahma Kumaris, I would like to wish this project every success.

Ingrid will be with you for the planning meeting on the 25th of April in London and I look forward to hearing from her how things are progressing.

In love and peace

Dear Vivienne

Thank you for meeting with Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) to discuss the Thursday’s Child project. It is a much needed exercise which will certainly add to the ongoing inter faith activities in the UK that have helped create a genuine climate of friendship and respect between diverse religious communities. I pray that this event will do the same and will also connect faith communities with those of no faith or religion.

We look forward to participate not only over the anniversary weekend but also in the future. May I assure you of the Muslim Council of Britain’s full support.

Thank you.

Peace

Dear Ms Woolston

The Prime Minister has asked me to thank you for your card and the papers with it about Thursday’s Child – a Celebration of Faith. I am very sorry that I have not replied before now.

The Prime Minister has asked me to say that he very much regrets that the demands on his diary at the moment prevent him from meeting you. He has however asked me to send you his best wishes for your initiative. The aims of bringing together all the major faiths, in order to seek a better common understanding of different beliefs and to encourage greater mutual respect, is a vitally important one. The Prime Minister hopes that the event will be truly successful and have a lasting and beneficial effect on all those who participate and on their wider communities as well.

Yours sincerely

Dear Vivienne

Further to our meeting earlier this year I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge your wonderful concept and wish you success with your endeavours of “a Celebration of Faith” such a visionary idea.

I was delighted that you were able to join our Inter Faith Pilgrimage in June and enjoyed greatly viewing the filming that was undertaken that day.

Inter faith dialogue and action is truly critical at this difficult time and the thought of each and every faith under one roof enabling the public at large to understand one another more fully has to be encouraged and supported.

On behalf of Westminster Interfaith I am pleased to be associated with the inter faith festival in London over the weekend of 07/07/07 and look forward to participating in some meaningful capacity

I look forward to hearing your progress in the fullness of time.

Dear Vivienne

I am very pleased to know that at this beginning of the year, you have been able to make such progress in taking forward Thursday’s Child. It is a real tribute to your vision, energy and desire for the common good of our society that you have brought the initiative to this point. It is an initiative which is now well established in the minds of a wide range of people, across the churches and Faith communities, and I am sure that it will continue successfully.

I have no hesitation in commending Thursday’s Child to the dioceses and parishes of the Church of England and I have brought it to the attention of the Archbishop of Canterbury who sends his support and encouragement to you and those working with you.

It is initiatives of this kind which grow from the hearts of individuals such as yourself, rather than from committees of experts, which represent the real hope for a society in which people of different religious faiths and none can live together in respect and appreciation of each other

With all good wishes

Dear Vivienne

The Trustees of the United Religions Initiative recently considered your project – Thursday’s Child.

Firstly they wish you well in the ambitious and appropriate piece of work. Further they would like to be involved in supporting you – albeit they are themselves in a highly demanding developmental phase of their own work. Certainly we hope to see a fruitful link between our websites and we would hope to be present for the great occasion and staff a stand and provide an exhibition, probably our photographic exhibition – Spirit of the Nation.

We send you greetings and prayers for this noble contribution to our nation.

Yours sincerely

Dear Vivienne

This letter is to reaffirm my statement of your website.

Your vision to establish a multi-faith event on 7th July 2007 in the aftermath of the tragic incidents in London last summer is truly commendable and deserving of success.

The Buddhist Society could be acknowledged as a precursor of the inter faith movement in this Country as it is almost unique in embracing the main traditions of Buddhism. This is a very rare quality in any religion.

As the Society’s representative for twelve years on the Inter Faith Network, it has been heartening to witness the remarkable growth of friendship and understanding between faiths during that time.

On the 14th July last year, I was a guest of the Mayor of London on the steps of Trafalgar Square for the observance of the Two Minute’s Silence to commemorate the tragedy of a week earlier. This was a profoundly moving experience and I am sure your event next year will re-capture the spirit of that occasion.

The Society looks forward to participating in 7/7/07 by staffing a stand over that weekend.

As the oldest and most distinguished Buddhist organisation in Europe and one of the oldest in the western world, The Buddhist Society is pleased to support you in your noble endeavour, in the hope that it will contribute to a safer and more peaceful world.

Thursday’s Child – a celebration of faith

Dear Vivienne

As we approach the first anniversary of the London Bombings horror, we at Religions for Peace (UK) recognise the need to allow those who mourn the time and space to remember loved ones in their own special ways. Individuals who continue to be affected by those terrible acts deserve support and comfort as they seek to come to terms with their suffering.

We also understand the needs of the peace-loving vast majority of people, from communities of diverse faiths, to draw strength from a common belief that we should all live together in harmony.

Moreover, we share your concern that, as time passes, faith communities should share with each other all that is good in the spirit, values and traditions of our own particular faith.

We are, therefore, delighted to support your vision for a celebration of faith that allows the faithful to come together, sensitive to the hurt that remains, and show the world that people of different faiths can live together and act together in peace.

We wish you every success and we offer you our help in making “a celebration of faith” a reality in 2007.

Dear Vivienne

We have had some more internal consultations as well as a discussion with Barney Leith and I am pleased to tell you that the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tower Hamlets have decided to support the Thursday’s Child event in July 2007

As mentioned in our minutes of the meeting held on the 13th June, we have the ability to assist you with a selection of, or all of the following activities:

Stand with staffing, books and brochures
Speaker for (for example) 20 minute talk
Tranquility Zone
Artistic contributions, such as a choir, music, dance etc
Art exhibition
We may also be able to do a children’s classes or junior youth class, depending on human resources

After your funding comes through, we should consult again and the community will make a decision of our contributions. We can then start preparing for our contributions.

With loving greetings

On behalf of the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tower Hamlets,

Judith Fienieg

Vivienne,

May I take this opportunity to congratulate you and your team for one of the most creative ideas I have come across in many years. In the current climate of misunderstanding, war and negative stereotyping of communities, I believe your efforts in trying to build bridges and help in the process of understanding is commendable. May God help you in your efforts to unite His children and make this world a better place to live. And in this endeavour our prayers and support are with you.

Dear Vivienne

Support from Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe for Thursday’s Child

The Managing Board of the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe have discussed the “Thursday’s Child – a celebration of faith” event and we feel that it is indeed an Interfaith event which we would be keen to participate in. The Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe are already active in Interfaith circles and we place great importance on such activities and events which promote understanding and tolerance between all faiths.

As per your request the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe will participate in the celebration of Thursday’s Child on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July in 2007 at the ExCel Centre by:-

I. A group of Zoroastrians managing a stand at the event
II. A Zoroastrian speaking for 20 minutes at a time to explain the Zoroastrian faith
III. We will try to provide a group to sing within an artistic manner in celebration of the Zoroastrian faith
IV. Zoroastrian Mobeds (Priest) will recite prayers in a quiet room set aside for different faith.
V. Zoroastrians will manage a workshop and lead a discussion group
VI. Thursday’s Child will be advertised within the ZTFE (Inc) circular and web site encouraging Zoroastrians to attend the event at the Excel Centre. The leaflets that you initially posted are already displayed in the reception area of the Zoroastrian Centre.

Furthermore, to reaffirm our commitment, The Managing Board of the ZTFE have pledged £1001.00 towards the event should the event go ahead. The ZTFE (Inc) is aware that our donation is small in the overall budget but the Zoroastrians are the smallest of the nine faith communities in the UK, numbering around 5000 and all our funds are raised from within our community.

Looking forward to your progress report and wishing you all the best!

Yours sincerely

Paurushasp B. Jila
